Bible Reading Journey
All relationships take time to grow. If you desire to grow your relationship with God, reading the bible and praying every day is vital. To facilitate this, as a church whanau, we are embarking on a three- year bible reading journey.
The Pace
We started the journey in 2024 by reading through the New Testament. In 2025 we are reading through the Old Testament then in 2026 we will read through the whole bible. Our goal is to form a habit of reading through the bible twice every three years. This three-year plan is a good pace, giving you opportunities to make quick stops along the way and enjoy the panoramic views of God’s story.
The Practice
To guide us on our journey we are using a simple journalling tool called the H.E.A.R.T exercise. The acronym H.E.A.R.T stands for Highlight, Explain, Apply, Respond and Tell. We also recommend buddying up with 2-3 people to encourage one-another along the journey.
The Person
The desire is that as we grow in our practice of regularly engaging with God’s word, we will see Christ more clearly, love Him more dearly and follow Him more nearly, day by day.
The New Testament plan will take you through all 260 chapters of the New Testament, 1 or 2 chapters a day for 5 days each week, with an allowance for weekends off. The 2 off-days per week are built-in so you can catch up or dig deeper as needed.
